About Us
Welcome to Honingham Thorpe Farms. A contract farming business based in Norfolk.
We are located 5 miles West of Norwich adjacent to the Southern Bypass in the centre of Norfolk.
Honingham Thorpe Farms is a family based Partnership which has grown since the early 1950’s from the original 400 acres at Honingham Thorpe to some 6,000 acres farmed under various agreements today.
Our farming operations extend in a 20 mile radius from Honingham at present however we are always interested in exploring opportunities to grow the business, we will consider any farming proposals where the landowner seeks to share the benefits of spreading costs and the most up to date technology.
Over the last 70 years Honingham Thorpe Farms has developed from a mixed enterprise with a dairy herd, pig and sheep units combined with the traditional Norfolk cropping including Wheat, Barley, Potatoes, Peas, Beans, Maize, Linseed and Oilseed Rape.
Along the way we grew a range of more challenging crops including: Carrots, Parsnips, Blackcurrants, Cabbages, Turnips, Swedes, Tulips, Daffodils and Evening Primrose.
More recently we have streamlined our activities and now operate a simplified system with less crops and more specialisation
The success of this strategy is totally dependent upon our reliance on our small but dedicated team who now use some of the most advanced equipment available in our sector.
Contract Farming
Honingham Thorpe Farms is flexible business offering our contract farming partners a complete service. We cultivate a number of different contractual arrangements depending on the requirements of the individual landowners.
We manage your land sustainably and seek to protect and enhance our customers’ agricultural assets for the long term. We farm a wide range of soil types with the latest technology and expertise keeping sustainability at the forefront of our agricultural practices.
Environment
We are able to offer services for both planning and implementing a range of environmental schemes including Entry and Higher level stewardship and the Countryside stewardship scheme.
As custodians of the countryside we work to better the biodiversity of our farms and we manage habitats for numerous red list species such as the Turtle dove, Pochard, Marsh tit and Grey partridge. We have a strong focus on pollinators and we continue to see bee numbers growing year on year.
Livery
Greenacres DIY livery is situated between the villages of Colton and Honingham in the centre of Norfolk . We offer a relaxed atmosphere with packages to suit individual needs.
